I'm sorry for full-table based layout and left justified will always be an instant thumbs down in the year 2008.
The design works well, it is just such a shame that the code is 10 years outdated. Roughly 50 lines of javascript to do basic mouseovers, and I counted one table with over 50 td's full of "spacer.gif" only. I don't think I've coded a site using spacer gifs in over 5 years.
I am not extremely impressed with the homepage and overall design. They have some nice graphical details and good choice of fonts, but the site lacks details to bring everything together.
Inside pages have just a banner and the rest of the page is just text. As a designer I think our job is to use design elements and principles to organize all the information in a coherent manner, to help the user to find what they are looking for to make sense of all the info that gets presented on each page.
Size of the elements, position on the page, color, white space, repetition, contrast... not only a nice big image.
We better work on that or we are making a disservice to the content.
I find that organization of the website is very good in that it makes it easy for perspective students to find what they are looking for. The up to date news about the school and current pictures of student activities and achievements interest the web visitor to know more about the school.
