Feels left justified when it isn't. I like the hidden photograph, but ultimately it feels really unbalanced.

The use of tables in the code is a show stopper and it looks like it was never tested on any monitor other than that of the developer.

I have to disagree with the comments above. I don't think it's unbalanced and I don't think that the design presents well at only certain resolutions.

This has wonderful polish and simplicity that is anything but simple to achieve. The way the large photo is incorporated into the design is interesting and unique - there if it interests you, out of the way of the task-oriented users.

Also, tables? Where? Am I missing something?

Yeah, I think Chris's tables comment was intended for another site.

I really like the unique approach that was made with the hidden image, as well as the interior landing pages for each section. The only issue I have with the design is that it seems so narrow. Just wished it used more real estate.

@briodesign - I have to assume UCSC knows their audience and, thus, their target resolution. I suppose the real answer is responsive design, but I haven't seen any higher ed sites venture into that arena just yet. Would love to see some examples of this.
