We hope this will be the first of many books from eduStyle. We’re already in the early stages of development on a few future publications. If you have any suggestions for authors or topics you’d like to see us cover, please drop us a note books@eduStyle.net. We’re so excited to announce that the electronic version of The eduStyle Guide to Usable Higher-Ed Homepage Design is now available.

Here are some of the reasons you need this guide.

  • Get External Validation of Your Design Ideas
  • Learn Best Practices and Common Pitfalls of Higher Ed Homepage Design
  • Get Tips To Improve the Usability of Your Homepage
  • Find Out Leading Edge Design Trends
  • Discover Common Themes Between Noteworthy Winners

We review many of the Noteworthy sites over the past 2 years including…The University of Louisville, Rice University, Denver Seminary, University of Notre Dame, Biola University, Boston University and more.

Full details and a sample section of the book are available on the the book page.

As a thank you for all of the support that we are getting from the community we are giving away an iPod Touch to one of the first 100 to buy the book. At time of posting this there is still time to get your name in, but it looks like they may not be much time to get your name in for the draw. Again, thanks to everyone for the positive message and support.

When will the Printed Version be available?

We’re just working out some of the final details of the printed version, but didn’t want to delay the electronic version while we work it all out. We expect it’ll be ready in the next two weeks. There is information on the book page about how to be notified when the book is released and get a discount. We’ll also be repeating our iPod Touch promotion for those ordering the printed version, so it could pay to be on the email list.

Update on the Book, Win an iPod Touch

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

As many of you know, we’ve been working hard on “The eduStyle Guide to Usable Higher Ed Homepage Design“. We’ll be launching it either late February or early March. We know you’re probably getting sick hearing about it, so we’re gonna give you a little reward for your pain.

If you’re one of the first 100 people to buy the book we’ll enter your name into a draw for a new iPod Touch. If you buy a team edition we’ll give you three entries. (If you’ve got money to burn, buy 100 copies and lock it away.)

So what’s the best way to know when it’s released? The are two. First, get on the email notification list here. By adding yourself to the list, you also qualify for a nice discount. The second way is to follow any (or all) of the following Twitter users: edustyle, circa1978, or codyfoss. We’ll be talking about it non-stop once it’s out.

We believe this is a great community and we’d like to give back to those of you who work so hard to promote us. We’re planning to set up an affiliate program so you can make a little cash while spreading your goodwill. If you’re a blogger and would be willing to review the book, we’ll also provide coupon codes for your readers. Contact us here if you’re interested in either.

Big Things in Store …

Monday, December 8th, 2008

You may have noticed that things have been a little quiet from the admins here at eduStyle for a bit. Don’t worry, we’re still working hard to improve the site and get all your sites published to the gallery (yeah, we’re a little behind). As you may know, we’re also working on getting a few guest blog posts up (coming very soon, we promise). And we’re getting ready for the 2nd Annual eduStyle Awards.

One thing you may not know about that we are really excited about (and we hope you will be too) is we’ll be putting out the first in a series of books for the higher-ed web design market. Yes, you heard that right, we’re working on a series of books. The first will breakdown the designs of over 20 University and College homepages and offer some solid tips and tricks that you can use to improve your school’s site. It should be out sometime early in the new year. So if you are interested in being the first to know (and getting a little discount on the price), sign-up with your email to be notified when the first book comes out.
