Announcing the first judge for the eduStyle Awards – Karine Joly
Posted April 16th, 2008 by Stewart FossWe are only a few weeks away from the close of the eduStyle Awards nominations. Today we begin announcing the judges for the eduStyle Higher-ed Web Awards. Our first Judge is Karine Joly.
Karine Joly is a Web marketing professional, a new media expert and the editor of an independent, popular, and influential blog about the Web, marketing, and PR in higher education: www.collegewebeditor.com. Launched in February 2005, this niche blog now attracts more than 7,000 unique visitors per month and more than 1,500 subscribers via RSS or email, a very targeted audience composed of higher ed professionals and executives.
She is also the founder of www.higheredexperts.com, a social networking and professional development community with more than 1,200 registered members working in universities and colleges around the world. Since the launch of Higher Ed Experts in April 2007, more than 850 webinars about emerging technologies, social media and the Web have been taken by higher ed teams working in close to 200 institutions.
Karine has been writing a regular column about Internet technologies for University Business since February 2006.
Before focusing on Web 2.0 in higher education, she experienced first hand Web 1.0 as a Web editor at About.com, a top 10 Web property that is now part of The New York Times Company. Prior to the dot com boom (… and bust), Karine worked as a journalist for several radio stations, newspapers, and magazines in Europe.
She has a master’s degree in communication from La Sorbonne in Paris and a Webmaster Certificate from Rutgers University, NJ.
eduStyle is partnering with collegewebeditor.com to present the CollegeWebEditor.com Blog Awards as part of the eduStyle Awards. We will be handing out both people’s choice and judged awards for best institutional blog and best student blog. If you haven’t already, make sure you submit your nominations for the Blog Awards.
